Martin is an incredibly snuggly and loyal little guy. Specifically to one person. He is anxious if I am not with him, and will pull whoever is holding him to come find me if I even round a corner. The only reason I am not keeping him is because I believe that he will do a lot better in a home that is just one or two people that are "his people," and who are willing to work with him a lot before they have visitors over. He is a biter. And, while he has not hurt me that late, I know he was holding back because he is loyal to me. He has only bitten me when he has not wanted to be harnessed. But he has bitten a friend unprovoked because he was startled and did not recognize her. I live with roommates, and unfortunately I cannot leave him on kenneled with them there knowing that it is very very likely that he will bite them. Marty needs to be in a home where everyone is on the same page, and is very dedicated to you helping him improve. He is absolutely trainable. We did a session with matt, and, while Matt believes there may have been some abuse involving coercion with training with treats or something, he is definitely trainable. We did make some progress, and I know that he can thrive if people get him the opportunity. If I lived alone I would absolutely take on this challenge. Because he is worth every single moment of it.
Martie loves playing and has serious puppy energy! But not to the point of it being obnoxious. He just definitely wants to play with his human when they get home. He wants to sleep in bed with them and snuggle under the blankets. He has been going on long walks 2 to 3 times a day, and is completely housebroken. He gets along very well with other dogs, and doesn't mind cats. He even seems to want to befriend them, but the cats in our house have other ideas and are not really interested lol.
He is afraid of children. And does not love when people talk with their hands. He's a very picky eater and often needs broth in his dry food in order to be interested. He's still been eating a mixture of wet and dry food though. He loves dental bones, and gives more face kisses than any dog I've ever met. You will even wake you up with them when he needs to go out in the middle of the night.
He is a gem. I am absolutely in love. And I hope with my entire heart that the right people come along for him.
