Meet Chance. This is a hard one to write about, but we are on our way to a happy ending to his story, so I'm putting it out there, hoping to get some help and a home for him. Chance is a six month old terrier mix who suffered blunt force trauma to his skull right above his left eye.
When he was brought to the shelter, and for some time after, he couldn't even lift his head or walk (see video). The left side of his head and face were so swollen that it was hard to tell that he still had an eye on that side..The wonderful staff at TPAS took care of him and his recovery began. We brought him into our rescue and then straight to MSAH to continue his healing.
He still doesn't have vision in his right eye and has some neurological issues that may or may not resolve with time. Full body x-rays show his only injury is to the left side of his head, affecting his right eye. He is not great at walking on tile floors (his legs splay out) and he falls over if he turns too fast. Since he can't see on the right side of his body, he will put that side close to you and lean on you for support.
Chance has come such a long way and we are hopeful that he continues to improve. If things keep going the way they are, he should be ready for his new home in a week or two. If interested in giving him a forever home and teaching him that humans are actually good, please fill out the app at If you aren't in a position to adopt, please consider donating to his vet bill.
With gratitude, Michelle.
