Why adoption fees?

January 17, 2018

We get asked why do we have an adoption fee. Many of the pets who enter our adoption program need to be spayed or neutered. A great number of dogs are heartworm positive and need treatment. Some pets end up needing even greater medical care than just the basics. These are all costs we have to absorb and while donations help, they don’t cover everything. As you can see from the graphic, the costs of care greatly outweigh the adoption fee. When you adopt from us, you get a dog or cat who is up to date with vaccinations, spayed/neutered with a microchip. If a dog is heartworm positive, we cover the cost of treatment
